Anxiety or What?

On Sunday night around 2am I was laying in bed relaxing when all of a sudden a strong feeling hit me and it made me get up. It felt like an anxiety attack but the weird thing is the whole right side of my body went numb and I felt my neck go stiff. When neck felt stiff, I felt the numbness travel from my neck to my head. I got dizzy for a couple seconds but it went away. Later in the morning I had a small headache but yet the right side of my head is tender. Any ideas on what it would have been? I'm 18 year old female, 5'6 and 107 pounds btw.

It is not anxiety and I would highly suggest you see a doctor.

Did you jar your neck suddenly while exercising or did you have a recent accident that involved your head or neck? I had very similar symptoms after an auto accident and often head or neck involvement (injury) can cause nerve symptoms (tingling, numbness) and dizziness as well as head pain. You could have a pinched nerve or a slipped disc pressing on your nerve. Just to be on the safe side, I'd take myself to the doctor if I were you. Hope you feel better very soon.

This could be anything including an anxiety attack, an atypical migraine, problems with the neck -- disks or nerves or blood vessels or a combination of those -- or the brain and other structures inside the skull. The fact that it resolved is good, but you should surely be checked out by a physician as soon as possible.

Get checked- depending on what seems to be most prevalent symptoms, you may get an xray, CT or MRI of the head and neck. You will definitely have a history and physical exam done which may guide further testing as well.

I have had dozens of anxiety attacks in my lifetime, if not more. This sounds like something else. I would see a doctor about this if I were you. It could be anything, but it really doesn't sound like an anxiety attack.
