Could I get compensation for taking care of a mentally disabled person?

My friend whom I've been living with for a year and a half now, has a severe anxiety disorder that prevents her from leaving the house or finding work. I have been paying the bills, giving her her medication, and helping her try to get out more. Is there a possible way I could get compensated for this? We currently live in PA. Thank you.

Melanie

Note: I give her injections every ten days and I also am currently working as a personal care aid. Any answer would be great. Thank you.

You might want to see if she qualifies under a state program and see if you are eligible. Some state medicaid programs will pay people after they attend a training program. It is worth checking to see. I hope this answers your question. Thank you.

Andy is on the right track. If she is on SSDI or SSI or receiving any government aid of any sort, yyou can certainly effort getting her and state social services toigether, and see what programs they have for her; that she can apply for etc.
whether she will have to acceot a worker from the state or they simply [provide a stipend for her care and she can select her caregiver will be the major issue to determine.

you are a good person for doing that for her. I had a relative that had agoraphobia/w anxiety disorder that really coudl not leave the house. That is a horrible, really real fear for them. good work!
