Do you thing building my body would help me to overcome this extreme shaking? Are there medicines that can cure it? Is it neurological or muscsle problem? |

Hi Mulerbest. You are not alone, Anxiety disorders do include a number of specific syndromes and affect about 5% of the human population all over the world. From the symptoms you describe it does seem that you may well have "Essential Tremor", which is one of the group of anxiety disorders and affects many sufferers in the neck, feet and/or head rather as you describe. I do not think body building will be helpful. Medication might help you but is unlikely to cure and can have side effects. Also many sufferers find counselling or psycho-therapy very helpful.
But I would suggest that you apply to become a member of the International Essential Tremor foundation or IETF. Because becoming a member will thereby enable you to receive their newsletter "scoop on tremor" and thereby learn a lot more from others and so very probably help you to better understand and come to terms with the problems you are suffering from. I suggest you go on to their website www.essentialtremor.org for more information about them and that will bring in better advice than you will get from webanswers members like me.
But to try to confirm diagnosis of yourself, see if you can discover whether your tremor is apparent only when your affected muscle is exerting effort rather than at rest. If so that could be confirmation that is what you are suffering from as it is apparently not one of the other "anxiety disorders" (such as generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, phobias or obsessive compulsive disorder) which have rather different symptoms to what you tell us you are personally experiencing.
With Essential Tremor you are also likely find if you encounter any kind of physical or emotional stress such as somebody shouting at you or taking the piss for a laugh that will seem to make your tremor worse. A lot of sufferers do seem to get a false impression that their tremor is psychosomatic in such circumstances, which it is not.You are also likely to find your tremor intensity may get worse in response to you encountering fatigue, low blood sugar, cold, caffeine, lithium salts, some antidepressants and other such factors in your life.
What is worrying however is that Essential Tremor is generally progressive with most people getting worse in some people rapidly and is others very slowly so it would be adviseable to seek help Two medications are commonly prescribed to try to control of Essential Tremor symptoms :-
1. Beta-blockers mainly Propranolol (Inderal), and
2. Antiepileptic/anticonvulsants: primidone (Mysoline)
I can not advise which of these would be better for yourself, which is why you are best advised to see a Doctor. But be warned medication can have side effects, such as in making you confused, drowsy, memory loss or blurred vision, which is another reason why you need expert medical supervision. Surgery is generally only resorted to in severe cases and can include Thalamotomy and deep brain stimulation, which you may be able to find out more about by googling those terms. Can I convey my very best wishes and express the hope your suffering will not become too severe, and I do think there is reason to believe may be it will ease in time.
