GERD or your reflux may be kicking in to a higher gear so I gotta ask, do you smoke or have you changed coffee brands in the last few weeks? If so the "ine" (Caffine, nicotine, etc) drugs are giving your the funny mouth taste and it looks like you're taking way too many pills for insomnia. Ambien, Advil PM, lexapro and Xanax have way to much ibuprofen and magnesium which may also give you that meatalic taste. I'd dump the Advil and ambien. This reaction can can also be found in the fact that you HAVE been taking them or so long, that the body can no longer absorb all of the chemicals and leaves some behind in the gastric system. There is a slim, slim chance that the reflux has over the years worn the the thraot's lining to the point that it may look like hamburger. It'll mend on its pwn but you most assuredly need a diet change. Obviously no acids, forgt orange juice or any citric juice for a awhike swutch to viatamins for vitamin C. Forget the pasta sauce made with tomato (way too acidic) that includes pizza, lasgna and other tomamto based dishes. Eat more fish and not out of a can. No booze andcut the caffien in half. Forget gumand sitch to soft chew antacids and I'll bt the seizures were causedd by two much metal in the stomach which couldn't push the metals into the digestive system. Metalic tastes are usually a long gradual effect so it's not going to go away quickly. Let us know how you;re doing in a few weeks

Lilmeows I just started with the same metallic taste that has gotten worse over the last few weeks. I am trying to do better about oral care & I thought that was helping. I went to my doctor who did some basic blood work and that checked out ok so now I have to either go to the dentist or back to the doctor. I take prilosec for heartburn...been on that about a year. I have terrible allergies so I take benadryl at night this time of year. Other than that I just take prenatal vitamins, vit C, and zinc almost everyday. I have started using saline in my nose thinking maybe it was my sinuses. I am also brushing with salt, baking soda, peroxide and toothpaste. I have started using listerine as well. It is affecting my drinking and eating now. I just actually went a brushed my teeth with everything and it's better for now. I am at a loss. My worst fear is cancer or something b/c some websites mentioned that. What kind of cancer would cause that? Also I do have a minor cavity they found almost a year ago but my dentist told me it's to tiny to do anything about so we are just waiting. Did you ever figure out what yours was?

Diet change! I am having the same problem. It is because you body has natural filters and they get overtaxed with the caffeine and the pills, soda, sugar, oil/fat. I suggest changing your diet and lifestyle. Take time to relax once a week like Saturday and eat wholegrain, whole fruit, and steamed/raw/cooked veggies. And for healthy protein eat nuts, seeds and beans. Get lots of sleep and exercise! Olives are really good for acid reflex.

I just started taking antibiotcs for an ear infection .Im om 1000 mg a day.since I started taking this medicine I have a really bad taste in my mouth all day and night.I wakes me up at night it's so bad.

It's ambien that gives you the bad taste in your mouth. Discontinue that for a week or two and you'll see an improvement. It happened to me. It was burnt coffee taste that I couldn't get rid of. A few days off ambient and it goes away.

Well, you could have gum disease, some people get the taste of old bacteria blood from their gums. Also dental work that was done years ago can break down and leave a metal taste. Also not drinking enough water can make everything taste like metal. So drink lots of water. Medications can cause this like some antibiotics. The only medical thing I can think of is kidney stones. Good luck. or come to think of it to much copper in your system. Personally I think I would start with my dentist. then my doctor.

You may have some underlying dental problem. Some possibilities are a cracked tooth which allowed bacteria to accumulate, gum problem, chemical reaction to your dental crown and filling caused by medication or diet. If you experience pain in your gum or tooth, you should consult a dentist. The other way to check is to floss your teeth. Is there a foul smell? If there is, you should investigate further. Especially, if it does go away after you brushed your teeth. It is definitely a sign of bacteria accumulation.
