Hot and cold spells making me very upset

I am 57 years old, had a complete hysterectomy in 1982 (ovaries removed). Since then, I have been on mostly estrogen patches.
I have been taken off hormones, dosages switched, etc for the past three years.
Meanwhile, my family dr. has changed me patches twice which are the same dose. He says one might not be absorbing better than the other.
I also have anxiety problems.
I get very sweaty at times, then I get goosebumps and am freezing. Sometimes it all happens at once, the hot and cold.
I can be talking to someone and get chills, other times simply undressing will cause them.
I have had my thyroid checked out and am told it is fine.
I also get heart flutters sometimes and have been told my heart is fine.

I keep running from doctor to doctor but nobody helps me.
I just can't stand being like this anymore.

Even though you have a complete hysterectomy, can your body go through more intense menopause when you reach that age of menopause?

Could this be anxiety?
I have been on lexapro 20mg for about 6-7 years or longer.

Please Help.

You are certainly in need of definate answers...Without benefit of knowing your whole medical history, or any other meds that you may be taking, I can only advise you to keep seeking medical attention for these symptoms...I personally think that the physician needs to perform some Lab Studies to see exactly what your levels are...There is a possibility that you are not receiving enough Estrogen or you may need a combination of meds to treat these symptoms...As for the Lexepro, this could also be a culprit...I would like to see a physician review all the meds that you take and not just focus on the Patches...I can not tell you what is causing these symptoms. However, these are symptoms that are related to a specific problem that simply has not been identified...Do not give up on this...One more suggestion. This may or may not benefit you, however, there is a product that can be purchased over the counter called "New Phase"..I learned of this from a patient that had been taking it for quite awhile after her estrogen meds were not helping...I sent the med to the pharmacist at the hospital to get more info on this..It does have some very similiar ingredients to that of estrogen...Only a thought for you...If you have questions about this product, speak to your pharmacist...I hope this was helpful and I hope that you find something that helps you..Please,keep us posted...Good Luck to you and God Bless..

Hi, Wow you are certainly not getting the answers you need from your Doctors. I suggest that you try and see a female Gynecologist, one that you have not been to before. Write down a time line of your surgery, your symptoms and the treatments that have been tried. This will help you explain what is going on. Then when you meet with the Doctor tell her that you really need someone to listen to you and understand how awful you feel. It sounds as though you are feeling the full effects of a hysterectomy and menopause. And yes, menopause can be much worse for a women who has had a hysterectomy. I know becuase i had a hysterectomy too. I take an over the counter product called PREMSYN PMS maximum strength. I can't take hormones because of a history of cancer. The PREMSYM PMS really helps. Best of luck to you and hang in there! Be persistent with your new Doctor and go to the appointment confident and prepared!
