Anxiety and depression ? You are asking a very important question here and ill try to help as much as i can ! The ability to cope with anxiety and depression are simple and complex at the same time and here's what i do if i get depressed i go to the rest home and see how lucky iam to be able to walk and talk and work and play , when there are people there my same age that can not get out of the bed due to bad health and having lots wrong with them . now you say that this would depress me more . but if you think about it you are smart if you can follow the lead iam giving you and you would talk to these people and invest the time to help thses who are really unlucky in life and have a reason to be depressed and iam not saying you dont have a reason but you were able to type the question and that's something that some people just can not do. because they are so sick and in such bad shape that they can not even work the fingers on their hand ! and you need a purpose in life more then you now have , make it a rule to help someone every day in your life and go see people who you have just forgotten about lately , start selling at the local flea market . make some money for yourself , call up a few friends and get out and go to a big town to see what kind of good deals you get get every week just you and some people you know, make it to the local Church every week ,adopt some pets if you dont have any ! just go up to someone on the block and ask if you can help them with any thing . it dont matter ,you have to get out and go on and do good for people and then it helps you and people love when they are asked if they need help . and dont charge any money just help them and they will help you.

Attend a support group and share your story with others who have similar experiences; this can be healing and powerful for some individuals. If you are involve in a faith base organization, get involve by volunteering your time. Be a mentor to someone else who is having a difficult time. Seek counseling or therapy if you haven't already. There is a negative connotation behind seeking counseling/therapy, but without it, how do we learn to help ourselves? We surely don't learn this in school. Also, talk to your doctor and reevaluate your medication to make sure its the right dosage.
Some tips:
-Recovering takes time
-Do things you enjoy, or try something completely different
-NIMH: National Institute of Mental Health-provides resources on anxiety and depression
-Get to know people, talk to a stranger, volunteer your time to help others
-Call a friend
-Learn to meditate-meditation has proven to help one feel calmer, a great way to relax, learn about oneself, and it has shown to make you happier

Often times we immediately turn to medication to treat depression and anxiety without considering counseling for the individual....Almost every individual who suffers from depression, has regressed feelings that they may not even be aware of...I think that it is imparative that one speak to someone and get to the root of their problems...There is no pill that will do that...You may consider calling a hotline..Some individuals feel better speaking to someone that they do not know and that does not know them or see them...Often times, this will open the door to more intense counselling once the individual becomes more comfortable about speaking openly with someone..You have already taken one step, by asking us to help you...I applaud you for that...This is truly an illness that I feel should be treated just as affectively as any physical illness. We know that depression can lead to physical problems....I hope this has helped abit...Please, post again if you have further questions or concerns..We are listening..Good Luck to you and God Bless

One of the most effective therapies which can also be self-administered in addition to getting it from a mental health professional is "Cognitive Behavioral Therapy" (CBT). The method helps one to react differently to emotions that tend to become imbalanced if reactions to them are not changed. It is a therapy that takes some time and practice but has a high treatment success rate. It also helps you to not fear the symptoms of strong emotion and to change your behavior in response to them, which over times diminishes their effects in hindering your ability to carry on normal life and activities. You also start to recognize these emotions as being natural in their proper context, so that you have less fear and dread of them.
In my opinion, CBT methods are the best in learning to cope-with and possibly completely overcome anxiety and depression. It worked for me tremendously well when I suffered severe anxiety symptoms and panic attacks from the onset of thyroid disease and other comorbid health disorders I experienced.
One source you might search out is the "National Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists", which also gives updates on CBT self-help programs they recommend, as they become available. Ageneral search on CBT will also yield you lots of helpful info..

Well it depends on what you used to do for fun. Go out with you friends. Exercise or try a relationship. Meds won't do anything. Only you can do it. I've gone out of the darkest corner of my mind the corner that made me attempt suicide! But I made it out with only a couple scratches! Don' feel discomforted. Remember this: You can do it! You are not a failure! You may need an energy boost. I drink an energy drink called FRS Healthy Energy it works and is all natural. Don't feel discouraged!

There's lots of herbal supplements to help reduce stress, depression, anxiety. And there's also natural hormone replacement therapy for both men & women. Sometimes all these negative feelings are the result of a lack of hormones our body needs. If the med. you're taking isn't working, ask your doctor about a saliva & blood test for your hormone levels to be checked.

I have found that acupuncture and Chinese herbals work wonders. I've suffered from anxiety and depression over the years, anxiety more-so in the past several months. I went for acupuncture for migraines and joint pain, not really thinking along the lines of relieving my other conditions.
However, acupuncture treats the individual as a whole, not just as a "migraine" or "rheumatoid" and addresses the entire system.
I am calmer, more centered, not given to as many bouts of irrational anxiety (I usually suffer from the type of anxiety where there really is no basis for it, not anxiety related to specific events or situations).
I have also learned methods to control whatever anxiety or depression occurs between sessions. Truly, I wish I had looked at acupuncture years ago.

There are many ways to go about treating anxiety and depression.
Determine what makes you have the feelings of anxiety and pin point what depresses you.
It depends, some people can figure out what it is, and some don't.
Deep breathing techniques, talking to someone, keeping busy, and many other ways.
Medicines are usually the last resort, I would take.
Some depressed people are not willing to be around others and some are. Find out by testing yourself if you are irritable, or how sensitive you might be in public and in groups.
Think about the one thing that makes you happy or smile. Something you love, enjoy and or have interests in. Now, keep it simple, perhaps a book, an animal or even a favorite tv show. This will take your mind elsewhere and keep you busy.
