How can I wean off Google AdSense addiction? I don't want to, but I always end up checking my AdSense account every time and see my earnings. I check it every now and then and sometimes two three times in half an hour time. As a newbie, I know this can be natural but its going too much. I fear I might have been overly anxious and might have been suffered from anxiety attack (sort of). I'm astonished that SlipFallGuy sees his earnings once a month. I cannot imagine that, but help me reduce this rate to once a day. Oh, how many times do you peek into? |

I manage now to check only two or three times a day. I check in the morning, sometimes at lunch and then before I go to bed to see what's happening.
I don't know how to wean off of checking...you may need to just make a conscious decision to NOT check, although I understand the excitement of seeing the amount increase.
Drat, now you make me want to go check mine and I've already done that for this morning! You're a bad influence :)

I think most newcomers go through that phase. I have been here now for about a year and a half and at first I was checking my account every hour. Now I might check it once every day or two. Sometimes I go a few days without checking.
My advice would be to not worry about it. Like most things in life, this will grow old too, and the novelty will wear off, at which point it will not consume so much of your time. Good luck on webanswers.

I understand you and I agree that anything too much is not good but God. So I can feel what you think about your behavior about the Adsense earnings. And what I feel is that you are a newbie and that is why you often watch your earnings. But I do not think that it is a very serious problem. As the Golden Girl says that you would be okay after some time.
B ut if it is bothering you then you can have a strict self guideline for you. Just you can log in to your Adsense account once or twice a day and do not go for it beyond that limit. If you follow that for few days then you will be used to it so soon. Also please log out from the Adsense account once after you have checked your earnings. I hope that you can easily overcome this problem if you are serious about that. Blessings and please no worries hence that is not a very serious matter. Even I have done so some times back.

Addiction can occur even for habits. I can understand it. It occurs because there is an dopamine boosts to your reward circuitry, whenever you check your adsense account. Initially it is pleasurable but lately it just seems not make sense.
You can get rid of it by focusing on other interesting things. In addition, make a schedule of your checking behavior and write it down. Then decide when are you going to check it. After that decrease the habit step by step. For an example first reduce the checking to two times a day,. Then reduce it to once a day. However, you need at least to check it once a day.

I believe most of us has gone through that phase of constantly checking the Adsense Account. I used to do that myself when I was still a beginner, as if checking will gain us the valuable clicks. It's exciting though even if you sometimes feel crazy for doing it so often. Anyway, this is an addiction that does not do you or others harm. You will soon get over this habit.
Nowadays, I check my Adsense Account about twice a day, the most is 3 times. I haven't gone over the habit yet especially since I am really excited on how many days more it will take before I reach another payout. This is what makes this site fun. Looking forward to the earnings accumulating daily is what usually motivates us to try even harder.

I have only just opened my AdSense account last month and I did have this problem for the first few days. I liked it to WebAnswers and was amazed I was getting bits of money going in there.
But since then I am so busy with trying to find some ways of making money other than pocket change, that I have not had the time to check my account four times an hour.
It is tempting, but I try to push it to the back of mind. Maybe check it once when I get up and once before going to bed, though not right before going to bed as if I have not made much then I will lay awake wondering why it is down today. I do not make that much at the moment anyway but it is amazing when you first start seeing some going in.
I love earning money online.
