Before trying to treat an anxiety attack, make sure they are truly anxiety attacks and not something more serious. There are medications that can be prescribed but some people may be opposed and not want to treat these attacks with medication. There is also counselling that could be used as a form of prevention. In other words, trying to avoid whatever is triggering these attacks.

Another method is meditation. There are many different forms and means of meditation. Here is a link to a beginners guide to meditation:

I have both of these issues myself. I have prescriptions for Paxil and Xanax, but I have found meditiation works in all but the most severe instances. I reccommend a dvd, it is much easier to understand the process through seeing it. You really can relax your body and mind by using breathing techniques and and chanting or posture modification. It also helps when you feel the need to smack someone annoying!

I would suggest an evaluation by a psychiatrist to determine what underlying emotional issues there may be that are leading to these anxiety and panic attacks.

There is a great book called "The Mood Cure" by Julia Ross. It will guide you in what supplement to take and how to improve your diet (more protein will help!) Like most of us, you probably need more sunlight. This is just a start. Please read the book -- it will change your life!

I would start by making an appointment with your family doctor and talk to him about your attacks. There could be a physical reason (such as mitral valve prolapse, hypoglycemia, hyperthyroid) for your symptoms, that is why you really need to see a physician.

There are things you can do naturally, such as relaxation breathing during an attack: Breathe in slowly through your nose to the count of three, hold your breath for the count and three, breathe out slowly through your mouth to the count of three.
Other natural methods are:
Meditation, Exercise routines like yoga

What really would help would be some anti-anxiety medication or cognitive behavioral therapy and for those treatments you need a medical professional.

How to deal with anxiety and panic attacks?A panic attack is a condition of adrenaline being released into your bloodstream. A message of fear sends a signal to the adrenal glands that there is an emergency.

Relax by taking slow, deep, complete breaths. Calm yourself by remembering that you are only having a panic attack and that nothing more serious is happening to you. Continue to take slow, deep, complete breaths. Slow, deep, complete breaths will relax your body, which is the first step to reversing the release of adrenaline.

Stop Negative Thinking. Accepting your feelings is very important. Minimizing this experience usually serves to perpetuate it. Fear is a positive emotion that reminds you to take care of yourself. Listen to your feelings, take good care of yourself, and keep your emotions in proportion to the situation by keeping an appropriate perspective.Thanks for using webanswers_!

I actually get tons of anxiety attacks but I've learned to control them using some meditation techniques that I would like to teach to you. I would also recommend doing them before bed, or anytime you need to unwind.

The first technique: The Bubble

Imagine a protective bubble around you. Go into complete details about the bubble, what does it look like? What color? pattern? material? shape? What does it smell like? Would you have any favorite objects in it? Do you hear any sounds or music in it? It's a protective bubble, so anything that could harm you just bounces off or it slows it down so it can't hurt you. Use humor and breathing ot your advantage

The next technique is called 5 - 4 - 3

When feeling anxious or having a panic attack, stop and focus on:
5 things you see
4 things you hear
3 things you can touch
Repeat until you are calm. Breathe and focus on each item


Third technique - Safe Place

Close your eyes and think of a place that you feel safe and happy in. Picture it in your mind. What do you see? Be specific, just like with the bubble. What does it look like? What objects do you see? What colors? What do you hear? Is it day or night? What do you smell? This is best to do in a quiet place if you can, and is very good for getting to sleep at night. Use it with slow, deep breaths

These were just off some notes a psychologist gave me, but if you need anymore, just look up some meditation techniques online. I really hope this helps you!

Deep breathing and living in the present moment really help to overcome any panic attack and anxiety. mind is always moving in the past and future. This movement cause worry, anxiety and fear. If you consistently live in the present moment then there will be no fear and anxiety. fear or anxiety is only there when you are thinking about past or future. THIS moment there is no fear. Deep breathing helps you to return back to this moment from deep thinking. After berating deeply for few moments you will feel refresh and detached from the mind.

Anxiety and panic attacks could be serious. Sometimes people are just acting out on these but other times it could be more serious. Because it could escalate and who knows who would be there at that time it is a good idea to get help.

The person or persons concerned with them should get help or counseling for them. They should get it without alarming the person if they don't want a doctor. Because there could be different things going on it would be important to find out what is taking place.

Even if a person is a Dr. over the Internet they would probably want to see them in person in order to really do something. It is a very serious thing to the person having the attack.

After being properly diagnosed, you have to recognize this condition is a process that takes time to overcome. It may to months to years to feel like you have control over your life again. People diagnosed with panic attacks do not just stop having them alltoghether. With the right treatment plan, you can learn the symptoms specific to you, recognize when they are coming on, and start avoiding or minimizing them. Do not get discouraged if they reoccur even with treatment. Treatment can include medications, therapy, but most importantly it is haveing a support system - someone to go to or call when you feel an attack coming on. Someone to sit with you until it is over. Your body goes into a "fight or flight" response. Sometimes it is helpful to run and burn off that extra adrenaline. Try to start an exercise routine to keep your body stimulated in a good way. Get plenty of rest and eat right. Most of all, understand many people live with this everyday, and have a healthy normal life with proper diagnosis and treatment.

The herbal remedies to treat anxiety include essential oils of chamomile, lavender, and ylang-ylang, as they are known to reduce anxiety. The medications that are often utilized to treat anxiety include tranquilizers, such as chlordiazepoxide (Librium) and diazepam (Valium).
