Some people can decrease anxiety through better preparation. If you know you have to make a speech, the more you prepare and practice, the less your anxiety. If you have to interview for a new job, the more you prepare, generally the less anxious you will be.

Some people use specific breathing or yoga or meditative methods to help them relax. These can be learned from books, from classes, researched Online, etc. You can even learn biofeedback techniques with a trained biofeedback technician.

Some people decrease anxiety through strenuous exercise or participating in an enjoyable activity like ballroom dancing or attending a show or concert.'

Some people cook, clean, sew, watch tv. read - whatever it is that they find relaxing and do it!

Everyone is different so different things work for different people. If you can't find what works for you, or your anxiety is interfering in your daily life, talk to your doctor about medication or a referral to a mental health counselor. You can get help, if needed.

Good Luck.

Well Xanax is the best way to decrease anxiety. That or some antidepressants. It depends on your level of anxiety. There are simple things you can do in your everyday life to overcome anxiety as well. Like eat foods that are good for you. Do not place yourself in situations of high stress / anxiety. There are many little things you can do to prevent the build up of anxiety. It would really depend on your level of anxiety. Some people get really overwhelmed and have anxiety attacks. For these you would need an antidepressant or something like Xanax.

Many people relieve their anxiety by starting an exercise program. There are a lot of "feel
good " chemicals released when you do aerobic exercise. You would have to commit to it. Also, as odd as it sounds, a lot of people start analyzing their thoughts to determine if their ongoing thoughts are actually the cause of their anxiety.

When you wake up in the morning do you decide it will be a wonderful day or a hectic bad one? When all things are considered equal, but you immediately decide it will be a horrible day...you need to say wait a minute! Who in this voice that is saying all of these absurd thoughts to me? You then proceed to shut this voice down Obviously if you allow the thought that the day is going to be a day from he*l , you ARE GOING to be anxious...who wouldn't? You have to learn that you are going to feel as bad as you predict if you allow yourself to listen to the negative voice. Kinda like "well, I'm not sure what but something bad is going to happen any time now...

Slowly you have to come to realize that people act accordingly to what they believe to be true as opposed to what is true. Some people had truly frightening childhoods so they stay on guard and nervous all the time. Others just have a genetic leaning towards anxiety. Either way YOU really can come to the realization that you do not have to feel anxious all the time, and you deserve a great unencumbered life. If this is hard at first see a counselor for a little help. Things will get better. You just know that they can and they will. ..and that YOU truly deserve it!
