I am a physically disabled women who is on 20 years of probation. I have community service I must complete. I am very limited as to what Io can do. my PO is bullying me and calling me a liar and said she will violate me if I dont put in more hours. What can I do to protect myself from this bullying and threatening PO. I am permanetly disabled, I am very limited on how long I can be on my feet or sit in a chair. I do things like give massages to put food on the table for my kids and I, i am living on disability, which barely covers the rent. dont i have the entire time of my probation to get this done? how can she tell me shes going to violate me because " Im playing the disabled card" I have been slowly working the community service hours down. she hasnt bothered to talk to me about my situation, how am i surviving, etc..she talks to me as if I am just one big piece of s*** and i am wasting her time. she has also told me I cant do what I am schooled to do as a part of my community service, which is graphic design. if this is what i do and i do it well how can she tell me what i can do for community service as long as I am doing it? I have had no luck finding anyone who can help me or cares to. She is treating me just like my ex sociopath and it is causing me sever anxiety and fear. I have done everything i was supposed to. I follow the rules. she called me a liar and said I am using the disablity card to get out of doing it. This is not true. I am simply very limited. she found out I give massages every once in a while, she freaked out and yelled at me telling me I have one week to find another place to do my service or she is going to violate me. I am not going to pass up 50 bucks even if I cant walk after |

I don't think that you can ever win with a probation officer. Sometimes you need to just suck it up and try to get along with them. Even if you are right about being able to work at any type of community service, there are so many rules and regulations that you signed as part of probation, it is extremely easily to be violated. Attending a class late, missing a class, missing an appointment, staying at a friends house on vacation and leaving your "area" without permission, random drug screens, and failing to report new charges could wind you up in jail, even if you have valid reasons.
I would recommend speaking to your probation officer and letting them know that you really appreciate all that they are doing for you and leave it at that. I would then wait a day or two, and visit the probation officer personally and have "plan" of how you want to handle your community service at the provider of your choice. I would make sure that you have an outline of the what the community service entails with specific dates and times that you will be working, and the estimated time that you will have everything completed. I would also include a letter from the person supervising the work that states that they are interested in working with you and that they need you for their non-profit organization.
If the probation officer is not impressed, at least you will have some good mitigation if you are violated for not completing your community service hours.

I would file a complaint against your Probation Officer through the State Attorney's Office. I know of a few probation officers that shouldn't of had that job, and alot of the lawyers thought they were a joke to the system. Don't be afraid to report this person, if they are abusing their authority the system needs to know about it. Put in for a request for a new probation officer, keep records and let someone know about this abuse. You may even want to get a free consultation with a lawyer, for any physical damages that may have been caused due to the work load that has been put on you. Report this person, to the authorities.

I would take the paperwork that you have from the state or feds which placed you on disability and show it to her and have her place it in your C-file, if she still persist, go in and speak to the supervisor, that will get her off you and quite possibly get you a different agent. I hope this helps? Good luck.
