I might be suffering from depression and anxiety, is there a solution?

I just got my diploma in Aerospace Engineering and I live in New York. I have 1 friend and not much of a social life. Even before the move I found myself awake until 3 or 4 oclock in the am. I don't put myself into social situations unless im talking to someone at a store and i am constantly sad that my dating and social life are suffering because of this anxiety. I have stopped pursuing my hobbies and I just don't know how to get back on track. Help!

I also have problems sleeping and with social situations. For the sleeping you should get plenty of exercise or see a doctor that can prescribe you something for insomnia, as for being more social you may need an antidepressant or an anxiety pill, again i will say Valium, is a cure all for anxiety and insomnia. Not saying it works for everyone, but did for me.

First, let me applaud you for your Scholastic Achievements...You have presented an almost picture perfect example of Depression.. This is very treatable and if you apply yourself to getting the help you need to the same degree that you successfully reached your goal Academically, you are going to have a wonderful life....Having said this, you must be willing to step outside of the wall you have placed around yourself and seek help...Yes, there are many Antidepressant drugs that one can be given. However, In my professional opinion, I think that you need an outlet to vent your true feelings about things..Life in general...This can be difficult for one who has become so far removed from the social interactions that you have described...You may benefit by talking to someone that you do not know...Many times, patients are more comfortable speaking to a stranger in confidence than to try and get a loved one or even a friend to understand their feelings..If you are not yet at a point of seeking a Professional , I would advise you to call a HotLine..They will listen....Not only will they listen, you will reach a comfort zone that will allow you confidence to be able to seek professional counseling and perhaps avoid medication all together...Having said this, there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking meds to help you in this most difficult time....I believe that you can get above this and move forward with confidence and be able to look in a mirror and say " I am OK and I deserve to be happy"....Good Luck to you and God Bless You ! Please, keep us posted..We are listening..
