Lexapro withdrawal symptoms?

Please, what are typical withdrawal symptoms of Lexapro? I took it for a year for anxiety due to a stressful work environment and caring for a dying pet. My personal situation is back to normal now. What should I expect without getting alarmed? Thanks!

I used to take Lexapro (escitalopram oxalate) for depression. I quit after several years without any significant withdrawal symptoms. Against medical advise, I did stop taking the Lexapro abruptly instead of tapering down. It is wiser to be weaned off any of the SSRIs, select serotonin reuptake inhibitors, under medical supervision.

Some of the more common withdrawal symptoms of Lexapro include headache, dizziness, confusion and agitation. Increased depression or anxiety are, of course, also possible side effects. If withdrawal symptoms occur, your doctor may, temporarily, increase your dose then reduce it more slowly.

The FDA, or Food and Drug Administration, encourages the reporting of negative side effects. You can file a report online at the following website: http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/HowToReport/def ault.htm
