Getting over being shy is not an easy task. I would first start out by keeping a smile on your face. By doing that you are making yourself more approachable.
Next start out by just saying, "hi" or "how are you doing" to people you normally don't talk to. Try and become good at small talk. This will open yourself up to more people and they will then be more likely to talk to you in the future.
Remember that you won't be able to stop being shy over night. It can take a while. Just stay positive and things should turn out good.
