A person who experience an anxiety attack often thinks it was a heart attack due to the symptoms: shortness of breath or chest pain, dizziness, feeling like you're going to faint followed by a strong fear that something really bad is going to happen.
Anxiety attacks are strong reactions to something bad going on in your life. Even though medication can help with these symptoms, they often numb a person and they definitely cannot cure the source which is of a psychological nature. These attacks are often followed by depression but if a person speaks about it and finds a solution to a problem or a comfort, the attacks will go away.

Psychologically, what usually winds up happening is that the person becomes so anxious about having another attack that they wind up having another attack. So it winds up being a visious cycle. Say a person had an attack at the laundromat. The next time they have to wash clothes they might start reenacting having an attack at the laundromat. FOr a week before they are due to to go the laundry they are building themselves into a sort of frenzy thinking about the attack. Eventually, when they finally get to the laundromat they do have an attack. People who have anxiety attacks sometimes limit where they will go because of this reason and thus is affects quality of life.
